The Middelburg Cultural Society, Middelburg, Cape Province (Middelburgse Kultuurvereniging in Afrikaans) was founded in 19** by **. In 1922 Danie Olivier joined the society, and contributed greatly to their activities. He promoted religious music, produced a number of operettas, and over the years till its demise in 1927, directed a number of plays for them. These included many plays in Afrikaans, such as Faro, Die Silwer Rand, Piet se Tante, Die Watersaak, Die Badgaste, 'n Ondankbare Kind, and Van Riet van Rietfontein.
