The Last Night of André Chenier

This is a performed version of A André Chenier by Victor Hugo (1802-1885), which celebrated the executed Revolutionary poet André Chenier (1762 – 1794).

A version by this name formed part of an evening's performance in the Garrison Theatre, Cape Town by Thêàtre de L'Union on 24 February, 1848, featuring the farce Les Ressources de Jonathas. It was billed as a "tragic scene" and was possibly performed in English.
