Oom Schalk Lourens

An iconic South African character, created by journalist, writer and playwright Herman Charles Bosman as the raconteur of his wonderful series of English stories about the Great Marico area of the Transvaal. The character has featured in a few plays and especially in the many one-man performances over the years by a variety of performers, including Percy Sieff, Patrick Mynhardt, and David Muller (in the original English) and Paul Luckhoff (in Afrikaans, 2015).
