A stage musical by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie. Adapted for the stage from the 1984 film (original screenplay by Dean Pitchford with music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Dean Pitchford and additional music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Logins and Jim Steinman.)

Premiered in 1998 and became a Broadway and West End hit. Remade as a film in 2011.

South African productions

2014: Presented as the 14th annual PANSA Young Performers Production at the UKZN Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from 1 to 13 July 2014. Directed by Themi Venturas, with Daisy Spencer (Choreographer), Des Govender (Vocal Coach) and Luke Holder ( Musical Director).
