(18**-18**) Captain in the Garrison at the Cape and amateur actor in the 1850s. An accomplished actor "high above the class called amateur actors" (Bosman, 1928, p.404), he had most of the leading roles in the pieces put on by the Officers of the Garrison in 1852-3. These include The Illustrious Stranger, or Married and Buried, Bombastes Furioso and Did you ever send your wife to Camberwell? in 1853.
