Koze Kuse Bash ("All Night Party") is a lively, energetic piece that portrays the inhabitants of Johannesburg’s black suburbs in the mid-nineties and explores their interaction and culture. The principal language used is Iscamtho, an urban spoken language that developed in the 1980s from “Tsotsitaal”, a combination primarily of isiZulu, Sesotho, English and Afrikaans.
Performance history in South Africa
Premièred at the Market Theatre in November 1997, directed by Sello Maake ka Ncube, with a cast including Leleti Khumalo, Mpho Molepo, Harriet Manamela, Kere Nyawo and Sifiso Sibaya. Same production staged at the Grahamstown Festival in 1998.
