Richard of Bordeaux
Richard of Bordeaux (1932) by Gordon Daviot (the pen name of Elizabeth MacIntosh). Written for John Gielgud who directed it with himself as Richard at the New Theatre London in February 1932. An enormous success. The play is a colourful and sympathetic portrait of Richard II in which his wife Anne of Bohemia is given great prominence as an equal partner in their relationship.
