A name often used by newspapers and other sources in Cape Town in the 19th century, to refer to a company performing in English.
More specifically it appears to have been a shorter name given to W.F.H. Parker's New English Theatrical Company in the years 1847-1851. Bosman (1928) for instance uses it on occasion in this sense.
