A Dutch translation by Cornelis Van Der Vyver ("maître d'école et auteur dramatique") of the French 3-act tragedy Clémence Clémence et Waldémar, ou Le peintre par amour by Benoît Pelletier-Volméranges.

First performed Paris, "avec success 21 brumaire an 10".

Published in French by Barba, Paris 1803.

Published in Dutch as De Twee Vrijmetselaars in Amsterdam, 1808.


Performance history in South Africa

Performed in Stellenbosch on 8 November 1834 by Het Hollandsche Tooneellievend en Vereenigd Muzyk Gezelschap, with the musical comedy 't Zal laat Worden (Meyer)
