De Schipbreuk, of De Korsaren op het Eiland Ivica
A 3 act "ballet" with music, in Dutch. Described by one viewer (James Prior , 1820) as "a medley of tragedy, comedy, farce, pantomime and dance".
According to F.C.L. Bosman (1928) this may possibly have been a translation and adaptation of the German tragedy in 5 acts by Johann Christian Brandes. Originally written and published in 1766 as Miss Fanny, later renamed play Der Schiffbruch ("The Shipwreck") , and published in 1791.
Performance history in South Africa
The Dutch version was performed in Cape Town by an unnamed Dutch youth theatre group (possibly related to a similar French company in Cape Town at the time) in the African Theatre on 18 and 25 August 1810
