(1954-) Teacher, lecturer and researcher in drama and theatre. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, he tudied at the University of Zimbabwe for his BA and M.Phil in African Languages and literature and African theatre. Became a teacher at various schools, and later a lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe. He moved on to become a visiting scholar in the Centre for Applied Theatre Research at Griffith University where he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Theatre for Development. He subsequently taught at several universities including the University of Zimbabwe, Griffith University (Australia), University of KwaZulu-Natal and Tshwane University of Technology (South Africa). Finally obtained a permanent position as Head of the Division of Dramatic Art and Senior Lecturer in Applied Drama and Theatre at at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Apart from winning numerous research awards and presenting several conference papers and workshops, he has published widely in books and international refereed journals such as Research in Drama Education (UK), Studies in Theatre and Performance (UK), Drama Australia (Nadie) Journal and the South African Theatre Journal.
