Biography
Leigh Bishop has a fine arts background and has worked in film, television and theatre for the past 22 years.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
She has designed a number of feature films, amongst them the award-winning Wooden Camera, which received a Crystal Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and Best Film Granprix in Montreal and John Kani's Nothing but the Truth which received a Silver Stallion and Peace Prize at the Ouagadougou Film Festival and Best African Film in Milan.
Leigh has worked with Mark Dornford-May on the acclaimed productions of The Mysteries – Yiimimangaliso, Carmen, The Beggar's Opera - Ibali loo Tsotsi and Silver Lake, which toured worldwide. They also worked together on A Christmas Carol - Ikrismas Kherol and The Magic Flute - Impempe Yomlingo. The Magic Flute - Impempe Yomlingo also won Leigh the 2008 Naledi Award for Best Costume.
