Ummemo ("the meeting") is an Swazi fable by an unnamed author.

The original text

Ummemo lived in the mountains since the beginning of time where she was an unusual dear friend to many of the animals and her home was the cave just below a giant boulder. Every morning, Ummemo shares the joy and sorrow with many of the animals she encounters.

Translations and adaptations

Turned into an animated short set in South Africa, titled Ummemo (and translated "The Echo") to become an episode of the anthology series "Animated Tales of the World".[1]

A copy of the typed text of the basic tale (no author given), found in the Stellenbosch Drama Department. archives in 2022. Now held in the Performing Arts Research Collection (PARC) at the Africa Open Institute for Music, Research and Innovation, with offices at Pieter Okkers House, 7 Joubert Street, Stellenbosch, South Africa.
