The original text
The play tells the story of a brilliant surgeon, Sam, whose faith in science is shaken when he loses a patient due to his own error and then confronts his father, a fundamentalist preacher, about his loss of faith.
Published by NY Theatre Communications Group in 1984 and in paperback by Dramatists Play Service, Inc. in 1988 and 1998.
