The Maid of the Mountains is a musical play by an Englishman, Harold Fraser-Simson and is based on the book by Frederick Lonsdale.

The original text

The Maid of the Mountains was originally called a musical play. It is a three-act operetta with music by Harold Fraser-Simson and additional music by James W Tate. Harry Graham wrote the original lyrics with additional lyrics by Frank Clifford Harris and Valentine.

Performance history in South Africa

1951: Presented by the EOAN Group in Cape Town.

1952: The Maid of the Mountains was produced by the Port Elizabeth Musical and Dramatic Society (Pemads) and directed by Doreen Egan in the Port Elizabeth City Hall from September 15 – 20, 1952.
