Lala Ngenxeba/Of Love and Revolution is a play by Monageng ‘Vice’ Motshabi.

Also referred to as either Lala Ngenxeba or Of Love and Revolution in some sources.

The original text

A documentary play in which three young actor-activists explore Robert Sobukwe’s life and legacy, using documentary photographs and historical sound clips from the archives to focusing on Sobukwe’s relationship with his wife as revealed through their letters, prison visits and everyday life in Kimberley, Northern Cape, where the couple lived.

Performance history in South Africa

2024: Performed from 13 November to 8 December, in the Barney Simon Theatre at the Market Theatre, initially as part of the KAZA KAMBA Pan-African Theatre Festival. Directed by Palesa Mazamisa with Pulane Rampoana, Zizana Peteni and Katlego ‘Kaygee’ Letsholonyana.
