The Union Bioscope Company was a company set up by a printer, a plumber, and a chemist to exploit the advent of the bioscope in South Arica.

Their first cinema was a wood and iron building in Human Street in Krugersdorp called the Lyric Theatre, but was later demolished and replaced by the Vaudette Theatre in 1909. The company then used the name for a number of cinemas in various towns/cities, including Kimberly and East London.
