Kevin Volans (1949- ). South African-born composer.

Biography

He was born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, and studied at the University of the Witwatersrand with later with Karlheinz Stockhausen and Mauricio Kagel in Cologne. He moved to Ireland in 1986 and has been an Irish citizen since 1994. He lives in Co. Cork.

Contribution to South African Theatre, Film, Media and Performance

As composer, his stage works include:

The Man with Footsoles of Wind (1993), with a libretto by Roger Clarke, the dance opera Correspondences in 1990 as well as Confessions of Zeno (2001) with a libretto by Jane Taylor.
