A rousing and light-hearted musical written by Gibson Kente (1932-2004). Music composed and arranged by the author. The educational crisis faced by many black high-school pupils in South Africa is highlighted with music, dance and humour. Updated as We are the Future in 1990.

The original text
The musical incorporates the themes of the depressed social conditions in informal settlements, interruptions in township education and political strife, as was happening in Soweto in 1989.

1989: A production starring Thembsie Matu.
1990: Performed during the National Arts Festival, directed by Kente from 28 to 30 June 1990 and at the Market Theatre Warehouse, starring Zakithi Dlamini.
