The Eyethu Cinema was a 1000-seater venue in Soweto.

Operating from 1969, it was the biggest and most popular venue in which community plays were performed in Soweto. It was used for various functions and entertainment including beauty pageants, promotional evenings by clothing stores and music concerts by South African and international musicians. Gibson Kente, by virtue of his plays attracting large audiences, was the playwright who made most use of the venue.
