Citi Boy is a play devised by the original cast.

The original text

Citi Boy is an AIDS awareness project aimed at educating people through the medium of the performing arts. It was commissioned and produced by The Institute for Social and Individual Development in Africa (ISIDA) with sponsorship by the Oude Meester Foundation for the Arts.

Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

1993: The play was performed at numerous venues around the Eastern Cape, including township schools, community halls, at the Frere Hospital, The Arts Theatre and the Guild Theatre. It was co-directed by Veliswa Mcata and Darryl Nel. It was also performed at the National Arts Festival in July 1993. The cast included: Zolani Kiviet, Thembalakhe Lubisi, Daluxolo Papu, Madoda Ntonye, Thembisile Maki, Xolani Mafanga and Thabo Mdingi.
