The De Vega text was translated into Afrikaans as Skaapfontein ("Sheep Fountain") by Alewyn Lee in 1963.
The Afrikaans poet and playwright Uys Krige, seeing the Spanish play in Madrid in 1935, was inspired to begin writing plays himself, and intertextually acknowledged that heritage in the choice of the title for his own war play Fuente Sagrada (19**).
