Die Ongeskrewe Stuk ('n Impromptu) ("The unwritten play [An impromptu"]) is a one-act play by Uys Krige.

The original text

An absurd drama about a director finding hismelf on stage without a play to perform. This leads to an amusing discussion on the nature of theatre and life.

Originally published in a collection called Die Sluipskutter by Afrikaanse Pers Boekhandel in 1951 (the volume also containing Die Sluipskutter and Die Gees van die Water).

In the 1970's it was published as a performance text by DALRO, and often used by schools and amateur societies.

In 1980 it was published again in the collection Die Kleiner Kosmos by Academica Publishers. The collection was a set work for Afrikaans language studies at high schools in various provinces in the period.
