Jack-in-the-box
The term Jack-in-the-box usually refers to a toy consisting of a box containing a figure on a spring which pops up when the lid is opened. The term has been used in various metaphoric and other ways, often to refer to a particular person or as a title of a musical, literary or theatrical work, in this case sometimes spelled Jack in the Box.
