Founded as a home for local theatre practitioners and their work, built on the tenets of affordability, inclusivity, and accessibility, .

"We acknowledge Theatre Arts as a sanctuary for artists, emerging and experienced alike; as a space for theatre makers to take risks, follow dreams, launch careers, discover new passions and imagine new possibilities; and as a platform for adventurous and innovative work which defies categorisation and breaks boundaries across disciplines and communities. "

The venue received the Fleur du Cap Award for Innovation in 2019
