John Jacobs is a mime artist.

Biography

Born in Cape Town, he started out as a performer for his father's Cape Coons team, and then received a bursary from the French Consulate to study at the world renowned Marcel Marceau School of Mime in Paris (1986-1989), obtaining a Diploma in mime, dance and acting. He lived in Paris, France, for the 20 years, while working internationally. Since 2001 he has been based in Johannesburg.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He teaches acting, dancing and directing, and works internationally on film sets to assist actors in the technique of fencing and movement.

His company John Jacobs Mime Entertainment (in some cases referred to as the John Jacobs Mime Company), produces has produced shows such as My Passie vir Jesus (Aardklop Festival, 2016),
