The original text
Written by Tone Brulin as a play of dance, song and acting, it is based on the book My Traitor’s Heart[1] by South African journalist Rian Malan (1954-), telling of his experience of growing up in Apartheid-era South Africa.
Performed between 21 February 1997 and 11 April 1998 by Nieuwe Realisaties Theater at various venues in Belgium (e.g. Wereldculturencentrum Zuiderpershuis, Antwerpen; CC Ter Dilft, Bornem; and Theater Teater, Mechelen), directed by Brulin with performers Ivan Pecnik and Bodé Owa. Thereafter also performed in Malaysia and other countries.
A typed copy of the text is held in the archive of the University of Stellenbosch
