Randse Afrikaanse Universiteit

The Rand Afrikaans University (RAU), the second university with its seat in Johannesburg, was established by an act of parliament as the academic home of Afrikaans-speaking students. Through its academic excellence and relevance, the University managed to attract students, academics, donors and business partners from all communities and language groups. The Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) was a prominent South African institution of higher education and research that served the greater Johannesburg area and surrounds in from 1967 to 2004. It has since merged with the now defunct Technikon Witwatersrand and Vista University to form the University of Johannesburg.
