The Women's Auxiliary was the official journal of the South African Women's Auxilliary Forces which included the South African Women's Auxilliary Service (SAWAS) and the Women's Auxilliary Army Service (WAAS) was registered at the GPO as a Newspaper. The first edition was published in September 1940.The women of the WAAS were known as "Waasies" and their CO was Lieut-Col (Mrs) A H Lugtenberg. The publication was based in Johannesburg during the Second World War, cost 3d (tickey) and was published until at least February 1946. The monthly magazine carried reports about the activities of the various branches around the country, each report being submitted by the branch.
