Biography
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He aided the company of players recruited in England and brought to South Africa by Henry Harper in 1884. In Harper's opening production in the newly built Theatre Royal in Cape Town, he was responsible for the musical direction for Faces in the Fire () and The Two Gregories (Dibdin), and presumably other productions during in the rest of the season. On this occasion he also composed and arranged a "Grand Inaugral March" to mark the occasion.
