Albert Kavanagh was a singer and performer.

Also referred to as Albert Cavanagh in some sources.

Biography

Born Mark Albert Kavanagh in London, 1866, he became an "operatic vocalist" and seems to have been billed as either Albert Cavanagh or Albert Kavanagh. He was later a prominent member of the D'Oyly Carte Company, performing on the stages of England, America, South Africa and Australia.

He married the vocalist May Billing[] in 1898 and died in London on 26 January 1922.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

According to D.C. Boonzaier (1923), a singer called Albert Cavanagh arrived in South Africa as a prominent member of the first D'Oyly Carte Company to visit the country in 1897.
