Biography
Nothing about his life, beyond his involvement in Cape Town from 1872-1873, has yet been found.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
According to F.C.L. Bosman (1980), he was important in various capacities in the musical life of Cape Town between in the late 1870s-1880s. He apparently founded (or perhaps taken over or resuscitated?) the Cape Town Choral Society round about 1872 (Bosman has contradictory information about this). He seems to have become a rival in cultural matters for J.H. Ashley (fl. 1850-1870).
Among the works he put on with the society was the cantata, The Building of the Ship in the Mutual Hall, Cape Town in 1872.
