Not to be confused with The Paper Chase, a stage adaptation by Joseph Robinette of the 1971 novel by John Jay Osborn, Jr.

First performed at Toole's Theatre, London, on 9 July, 1888, with Lionel Brough as "James Busby" and published by Samuel French

Performance history in South Africa
1889: Presented by Luscombe Searelle and his company in the Exhibition Theatre, Cape Town, opening on 26 August, with the visiting comedian Lionel Brough again playing "James Busby". The production was poorly attended, as were most of that season by Searelle in the unsuitable Exhibition Theatre.
