Therese is the title of a play that , according to D.C. Boonzaier (1923), was performed by Joseph Ashman and the "Ashman Group" as part of a short season in Cape Town's Opera House in 1894. Neither Boonzaier nor F.C.L. Bosman (who cites Boonzaier in his 1980 book) mention an author.

It may have been an English version of Thérèse Raquin by Émile Zola, first staged in London in 1891.
