Doctor Wespe ("Doctor Wasp") is a German comedy in five acts by Roderich Benedix (1811–1873[1].

The original text

A German play on the theme of the emancipated woman, Written in 1841, and first performed in Frankfurt am Main in 1843. Published in Benedix's Gesammelte Dramatische Werke (Vol. II, pp. 152-273) by J.J. Weber, Leipzig, in 1846.

Translated into Afrikaans as Dr Wespe by D.G. Conradie in 1913.
