P. Van de Velde
P. Van de Velde (fl. 1860-1870?) was a Dutch speaking translator and playwright .

Biography
Since no reference to an author by this name has yet been found in Dutch sources, Van de Velde may have been a Cape Town resident circa the 1860s and 1870s, and in that case probably a member of Aurora II, the society that first performed his texts in Cape Town.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
F.C.L. Bosman (1980) credits him as the author of a the Dutch tragedy De Oudste Zoon ('the eldest son") (read by Aurora II in 1868 and the translator of a French play by Scribe and Delavigne called L'Héritière (1834), as Het Testament ("the will").
