J. van Elders
J. van Elders (1894–1970) was the author of Afrikaans thrillers and a translator of Shakespeare.
The name J. van Elders (meaning "J. from Elsewhere") is the penname of Ellaline Gray Cason (néé Rhind)

Biography
Born Ellaline Gray Rhind on 3 October 1894 in Somerset-East, in the Eastern Cape, and completed her primary schooling there, but obtained her matriculation from the Heidelberg Volkskool in the Transvaal.
Having qualified as teacher, she taught for a short while, them met and married a farmer, William Davidson Cason. They settled in the Standerton district, later moving to a farm near Middelburg in the Transvaal. The couple had five children. Her husband died in February 1947, and she passed away on 30 June 1970 in Middelburg.
Career as author
She wrote for most of her life, producing 30 novels, including thrillers such as Halfweg- Winkel (1951), Skaakmat (1957), Die Saffiere Verdwyn (1959), Die Verborge Deur (1960), Paradyspoort (1966).

Translated Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew into Afrikaans as Die Temming van 'n Rissie. Published by DALRO, 1969.
