The Man of Forty is a play in four acts by Walter Frith (1856-1941)[1]

The original text

First performed at the Theatre Royal, Manchester, on 27 October, 18989, and at the 28 March - 6 July 1900 at the St James Theatre, London. Produced in the USA by Daniel Frohman at Daly's Theatre, New York, playing from 26 November to 20 December, 1900, .

Performance history in South Africa

1901: According to D.C. Boonzaier's reminiscences (1923), The Man of Fortys was performed by the Sass and Nelson Company in the Opera House, Cape Town, as part of a season of plays that commenced on 11 May.
