Set designer

A person whose responsibility it is to design sets for a film or stage production. He or she is considered part of the "production team", alongside the director, lighting designer, sound designer, etc. The set designer might also collaborate with others such as the sound and lighting designers. In European theatre (and sometimes in South Africa) the role may be even more complex, with the stage or theatre designer designing both costume and scenic elements. In Afrikaans this person is called the Stelonwerper (or in earlier years, sometines the Toneelmeester)
