J'invite le Colonel! is a comedy with music in one act by Eugène-Marin Labiche [1] and Marc-Michel (1812-1868)[2]

The original text

It was first performed in Paris at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal, on 16 January, 1860 and published by Editions Michel Lévy frères in the same year.

Translations and adaptations

A Dutch adaptation called Ik Inviteer mijn Kolonel was done by an unknown author and published by G. Theod. Bom, Amsterdam, 1869.

Performance history in South Africa

1895: A play referred to as Uitgaan was twice performed in Pretoria in this year, probably by the Rederijkerskamer Onze Taal. F.C.L. Bosman (1980: p. 484) suggests this may have been a version of Ik Inviteer mijn Kolonel.
