The original text
A community project initiated by the Lady Grey Arts Academy and the Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk (Dutch Reformed Church) of Lady Grey, performed in the church - as well as in various venues and at different locales in and around the town - with a cast of 130 speaking characters as well as a chorus, choir, troupe of dancers and live visual artists, made up of students from the Academy as well as people from all walks of life resident in Lady Grey.
it is presented over a period of three days during the Easter Weekend every year. Audiences attending the various depictions become part of the story by dressing up in costumes of the period, eating foods of the period and experiencing the scenes in an interactive way.
The text, which incorporates music, dance, drama and visual art, was created by staff of the Lady Grey Arts Academy and adapted for the stage by Johan Hattingh, head of Dramatic Arts at the Academy.
