The Sonop Afrikaner Kring ("The sunrise Afrikaner cirle") is a cultural organisation, founded by Schalk Theron in Johannesburg in 1939.

Among their activities were theatrical presentations, including Die Goue Tempel (1942), Die Ongeluksvoël (lit "The bad luck bird") under Theron's direction. The success of the latter play led to the founding of the Johannesburgse Afrikaanse Amateur Toneelspelers or JAATS, which would become a well-known Afrikaans amateur group.
