The Workman is a play by Edward Towers ()[].

The Workman, or The Shadow on the Hearth is a drama in five acts by Frank Harvey

Also known simply as The Workman

Originally acted at Theatre Royal, Sunderland, 10th May, 1880.

Performed for the first time in the Australian colonies on October 4 1884 as The Workman at the Princess Theatre Melbourne.

Performance history in South Africa

1887: A play called The Workman (ascribed to Edward Towers by Boonzaier, 1923) was performed as part of the repertoire of the Wheeler Theatre Company when they played in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town during April and May. Probably directed by Sutton Vane.
