Lieutenant Tanner (fl. mid 19th century) was a British military officer in the 99th Regiment (Lanarkshire), and an amateur performer.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

While stationed in Cape Town in the years 1868-1869, he helped out with performances of the Lanarkshire Dramatic Club. A lively Irishman, he was the great success of the company with his singing and versatility, i.a. in his performances as a Frenchman and a performance of Villikins and his Dinah (possibly as a duet with Lieutenant Coock).
