The original text

First Performed at the Royal Strand Theatre, London, under the Management of Mr. Swanborough, Sen., on Monday, the 15th of September, 1862. Published by T.H. Lacy as Issue 839 of Lacy's Acting Editions in 1862.

1868: Performed by the Lanarkshire Dramatic Club (amateur players from the 99th Regiment) in the Garrison Theatre, Cape Town, on 4 April, with My Son's a Daughter (Parselle).
