The Old Cane Chair is one of two character sketches written and performed by Sutton Vane snr (fl 1870-1880).

1878: Performed, along with Christopher Colly-wobble (Vane), as afterpiece to Trip to the Rhine (Anon.) in the Athenaeum Hall, Cape Town, on 16 August.
