Biography
Nan Munro was born on June 24, 1905 in Piet Potgietersrust, South Africa as Anne Mackay Munro. She married Rayne Kruger in 1947 (her first husband had ddied in 1944) and settled with him in Britain. She died on June 16, 1992 in Kensington, London, England.
Apart from a number of stage productions, she worked mainly in television in Britain.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
In 1944 she and Margaret Inglis founded their own theatre company, the Munro-Inglis Company.
First production of their new company was My Sister Eileen by ****. Produced by and starring Nan Munro and Margaret Inglis 1944. The Munro-Inglis Company staged their last Standard Theatre production, Somerset Maugham's Lady Frederick starring Siegfried Mynhardt in 1947.
She starred in Margaret Inglis’ production of The Importance of Being Earnest for NAPAC in Durban post 1962.
