G. E. Bulger

Captain G.E. Bulger was an officer in the North Lincolnshire Regiment of Foot which was sent to the Eastern Frontier of the Cape Colony (now the Eastern Province, South Africa) between 1860 and 1862 shortly after the Xhosa cattle-killing movement and famine (1857-1858). The regiment was based in Grahamstown and Keiskama Hoek.

He came to the Cape Colony as a Captain.

Captain G.E. Bulger acted in five productions during his three-year stay on the Eastern Frontier.

Captain G.E. Bulger was a member of the Dramatic Club, in the section known as the Officers of the Regiment.

Biography

He was one of the Officers of the Regiment who produced shows for the entertainment of the troops and nearby civilians. Left Port Elizabeth for Grahamstown on March 13, and arrived n Grahamstown on March 21, 1860. Left Grahamstown for Fort Peddie on March 31, 1860, arriving there on April 6.
