Fitzosbert's Dream is an interlude by Lance-Corporal W. Allan.

The original text
The interlude was prepared especially for the Amateurs of the Band (North Lincolnshire Regiment of Foot)in September 1862.
Possibly based on a scene from Jane Taylor's melodramatic novel The Authoress: A Tale (Taylor and Hessey, 1819), which contains the character "Lionel Fitzosbert".

Performance history in South Africa
1862: Performed by the Amateurs of the Band (North Lincolnshire Regiment of Foot) on September 29, in the Garrison Theatre, Keiskama Hoek, with a cast consisting of J. Davies (Lionel Fitzosbert), W. Allan (Oscar Fitzosbert), J. Griffin (Arthur, his son), A. Jameson and J. Grennan (two ghosts). The evening included The Eddystone Elf (Pitt), comic songs by J.
