The comedy Charles the Second opened in Covent Garden on May 27th 1824, with Charles Kemble as the king.
Betty, a French Ballet version of the comedy Charles the Second by M. Barrez, first produced in Paris at the Academie Royale de Musique, as a vehicle for the dancer Sophie Fuoco, was brought to London as a “grand Ballet” , the re-production now called The Wags of Wapping.
